Sixers Stay or Go Series: Tony Wroten

I’ve now gone through all five of the Sixers’ starters at the end of the season, so now I will move to the backups. The most obvious player to evaluate first is Tony Wroten, the clear sixth man for the team this past year. As mainly a shooting guard, he averaged 13.0 PPG, 3.2 RPG, and 3.0 APG. His shooting percentages weren’t great (especially from 3, where he shot just 21.3%), but he averaged so … Continue reading →

Sixers Stay or Go Series: Hollis Thompson

I seem to have been very generous with the Sixers players that I have evaluated thus far. I have decided to keep all four of the players I’ve looked at, even James Anderson, who I have consistently criticized since becoming a Sixer. Next is the 5th and final starter from last year’s squad, SF/SG Hollis Thompson. Last year was Thompson’s rookie season after being undrafted out of Georgetown. He can be used as either a … Continue reading →

Sixers Stay or Go Series: Henry Sims

If I were the head of management for the Sixers (as I’m pretending to be for this series), they’d currently have Michael Carter-Williams, Thad Young, and James Anderson all still on the team. The first of those two would be starters, and Anderson would come off the bench. Now I move onto another starter for the second half of last year, C Henry Sims. Sims came over in the Spencer Hawes trade at the trade deadline … Continue reading →

Sixers Stay or Go Series: James Anderson

So far, I have determined that the Sixers should retain starters Michael Carter-Williams and Thad Young, at PG and PF respectively. Now I move onto their starting SG for most of the season, James Anderson. Anderson was signed last offseason as what seemed like an “extra” that would fill out the roster. Well, Anderson must have impressed people within the organization because he ended up playing in 80 games for the Sixers this past season, … Continue reading →

Sixers Stay or Go Series: Thaddeus Young

After determining a couple days ago that starting PG Michael Carter-Williams should stay with the team next year, I move onto Thad Young, the team’s starting PF last year and arguably their best and most productive player. Young is one of the few veterans on the team, playing since he was drafted in the 1st round by the Sixers in 2007. He may be the longest-tenured player still on the team of 6 years, but … Continue reading →

Sixers Stay or Go Series: Michael Carter-Williams

This is the beginning of a series of posts I will be doing about all of the players currently on the Sixers roster and whether or not they should keep them around for next season. I will look at many different variables such as stats from this past year, role on the team, salary, and worth to the team’s future. This should help decide who on the Sixers should stay and who should go this … Continue reading →

NBA Finals predictions: rematch from last year

Conference Finals have finally ended, and the final series of basketball is upon us. It is the NBA Finals, and it just so happens to be a rematch from last year, pitting the defending champion Miami Heat against the San Antonio Spurs. As many basketball fans remember, the Spurs were just a minute away from winning the series in Game 6, but a last-second surge allowed them to get back into the game and win, … Continue reading →

Eagles sign 15 free agent rookies after draft

It didn’t take too long for the Eagles to fill up their roster with free agent rookies following the draft. They immediately signed 15 guys to their roster, which is a usual thing for teams to do after the draft concludes. While they didn’t sign any huge names, they got a few guys that could make a run at a roster spot once they finally cut it down to 53 (which won’t be for a … Continue reading →

Eagles draft four defensive players in rounds 4-7

The draft is finally over, and the Eagles filled a lot of their needs. They grabbed five defensive players and two WRs in total. The most surprising part was that they neglected to take an offensive lineman, which was something that GM Howie Roseman was disappointed in. Regardless, they got some good guys on paper, but I’m still not sure it was the best draft. They continued to let good players pass them by while … Continue reading →

Eagles leave day two of the draft with two WRs in Matthews and Huff

The Eagles grab their 2nd WR of the draft. 86th overall, Josh Huff from Oregon – one of Chip Kelly's own. pic.twitter.com/hjX9eUDQe9 — FOX Sports: NFL (@NFLonFOX) May 10, 2014 The Eagles started the day with a 2nd round pick and two 3rd round picks, but they ended the night with only two players…and they were both WRs. Philadelphia started out with the 54th pick, but traded that and their 4th round pick (#122) to … Continue reading →
