Here is the beginning of the list for the final position: centers. As usual, I will split the list into four separate posts with 10 players each. After that, I will give a list of the top 50 players overall. Here are the first ten guys: 40. Jason Smith, New Orleans Pelicans Stats: 9.7 PPG, 5.8 RPG, 0.9 APG For one reason or another, Jason Smith almost always finds himself on the bench. More often … Continue reading
10. Serge Ibaka, Oklahoma City Thunder Stats: 15.1 PPG, 8.8 RPG, 1.0 APG For a while Ibaka was known for just his shot-blocking, but last year was a breakthrough in multiple areas, and it pushed him into the top 10 power forwards in the league. He averaged the most PPG of his career while still maintaining over 50% shooting, and he showed that he can knock down a 3-pointer once in a while if need … Continue reading
20. Carlos Boozer, Chicago Bulls Stats: 13.7 PPG, 8.3 RPG, 1.6 APG Boozer definitely is wearing down towards the end of his career. He may have had an average season overall, but relative to his past seasons, it was his worst since his rookie year in 2002-03. He’s likely at the point where he’s just a veteran rotation guy, which is why the Bulls chose to amnesty him. Last year was basically his worst or … Continue reading
30. Channing Frye, Phoenix Suns Stats: 11.1 PPG, 5.1 RPG, 1.2 APG Channing Frye has been very good since joining the Suns, and last year was more of the same. He continued his strong shooting performance, especially from the 3-point line, where he averaged 2 of them a game. He also grabbed a solid amount of rebounds, although just 5.1 per game isn’t too impressive for a guy that started all 82 games of the … Continue reading
40. Jason Thompson, Sacramento Kings Stats: 7.1 PPG, 6.4 RPG, 0.6 APG I’ve always liked Jason Thompson, but it’s a shame that he often doesn’t get enough minutes to fully showcase himself. He played all 82 games and started 61 of them, but only played 24.5 MPG, therefore having the worst season of his 6 year career. His PER was also pretty low at just 11.14, the lowest for any PF on the top 40 … Continue reading
This section of the list completes my top 40 small forwards in the NBA, and it includes a bunch of amazing players. Some of the best players in the league are small forwards, which was been shown by the recent MVPs. Here are my rankings: 10. Josh Smith, Detroit Pistons Stats: 16.4 PPG, 6.8 RPG, 3.3 APG The biggest problem with Smith is that he doesn’t have a real position, and in his case it … Continue reading
I’ve now reached the top half of NBA small forwards in the league, although this list doesn’t include the best of the best. Here are the next ten on my rankings: 20. Andre Iguodala, Golden State Warriors Stats: 9.3 PPG, 4.7 RPG, 4.2 APG Iguodala was supposed to be the replacement for Allen Iverson in Philadelphia, but their skill sets were so different that it made it impossible to expect that. Iguodala does it all, … Continue reading
Here are the next 10 small forwards in the league, according to my rankings: 30. Xavier Henry, Los Angeles Lakers Stats: 10.0 PPG, 2.7 RPG, 1.2 APG Henry played just a little more than half of a season last year, mainly coming off the bench for the injury-riddled Lakers. He had the best season of his career though, just reaching the double digit PPG mark and recording career highs in both RPG and APG. It … Continue reading
After going through the lists for both point guards and shooting guards, I know move to the front court and begin the top 40 list of small forwards in the league. This list arguably is the most top heavy, having many top 10 overall players in the top 10. The bottom of the list isn’t exactly the greatest though, containing mostly backups and underachievers. But what else would you expect? That’s why it’s the bottom … Continue reading
This section of the list finalizes my top 40 shooting guards in the league, and these guys were the best of the best last year. I was actually a bit surprised with some of them, but there are a lot of young, promising guys in this list. Here they are: 10. Lance Stephenson, Indiana Pacers Stats: 13.8 PPG, 7.2 RPG, 4.6 APG Stephenson is likely the most controversial player on this list, not because of … Continue reading
