One of the most anticipated storylines surrounding both the Philadelphia Eagles and entire NFL is whether Tim Tebow will make the team. He is currently in a battle with the incumbent third-string guy, Matt Barkley, for what will likely be the third and final quarterback slot on the 53-man roster. Sunday, we finally got to see both Tebow and Barkley in game action. Both guys got to play a significant amount of time in the Eagles’ … Continue reading →

I mentioned this on Twitter, but even though it was just the first game of the preseason, there were a lot of positive takeaways from that game. Whether it was rookies coming up big with impact plays or fringe guys making a statement early, it was a great game for the Eagles as they defeated the Colts 36-10 in their preseason opener. First of all, I’d like to point out that the Eagles’ 36 points … Continue reading →

I made my first 53-man roster prediction back in June, but now with a couple weeks of training camp completed, it’s time to update that list. The Eagles have made multiple transactions since then, adding players who appear worthwhile and releasing players due to injuries. Here’s my updated look at who I think will make the Eagles’ roster, as of now: Quarterback Keep: Sam Bradford, Mark Sanchez, Tim Tebow Cut: Matt Barkley Nothing has really … Continue reading →

Today’s Eagles practice itself is at walk-through speed, so there’s probably nothing worth noting. The real news of the day came during Chip Kelly’s press conference, in which he made some major announcements regarding player personnel in their first preseason game against the Colts on Sunday. He announced that Zach Ertz will miss the entire preseason with a core muscle injury and that Sam Bradford will not play in the Colts game. Alright, before the … Continue reading →

DeMeco Ryans, Kiko Alonso, Mychal Kendricks, Bryan Braman, DeMarco Murray, Jerome Couplin, Earl Wolff and Zach Ertz all missed practice today for various reasons, some of which were real injuries and some of which were probably sports science. Many of these guys may not be suiting up on Sunday for their first preseason game as a result of this. Chip Kelly still hasn’t made the announcement regarding that though. Despite the fact that eight people … Continue reading →

The Eagles now have less than a week until their first preseason game, and they continue to practice hard and in pads. They got through another day without any major injuries, but some important players were still held from practicing due to injuries or “sports science,” which I’m hoping won’t turn into a cop out to avoid telling people about real injuries. I doubt it will, but it is frustrating when the media is left … Continue reading →

The Eagles have now completed seven full days of practice. So far, so good, at least for most people. This was the second open practice of training camp, which apparently had 43,000 fans there. Unfortunately, I was not one of them, but I’m going to gather some news and reports from people who were actually there. Sam Bradford continues to show improvement and impress, there are strong battles at right guard and cornerback still going … Continue reading →

The fifth day of Eagles training camp came and went, and although the most people missed practice due to injury, it sounded like one of the better days for them. Sam Bradford continues to shake off the rust and show real improvements, and his connections to Jordan Matthews should be a regular thing this year. Here are some tweets from writers about Bradford’s performance today: Bradford with a beautiful deep pass over good coverage #Eagles … Continue reading →

I missed a couple training camp recaps due to a lack of working wifi at my house, but now I’m back. It’s certainly good to be back in the blogosphere. Anyway, enough of that. Day 4 of Eagles training camp was a strange one, but seemed like a good one in multiple ways. One facet that was discouraging was the absence of both DeMarco Murray and Kiko Alonso from practice. Murray missing practice is especially … Continue reading →

Brandon Boykin is gone from Philadelphia. That’s something that people have been predicting would happen for months, but last night Chip Kelly finally pulled the trigger on the deal and sent him packing to western PA and the Steelers for a conditional fifth round pick. That pick turns into a fourth round pick if Boykin plays at least 60 percent of snaps next year. It’s simple: this trade makes the Eagles’ secondary worse after they spent … Continue reading →
