As the Eagles continue to consider trading Pro Bowl WR DeSean Jackson, they have added an All-Pro to the mix: G Evan Mathis. Mathis, who has started all 32 games with the Eagles over the past two years with the team, had his best season of his career last year when he was named as one of the top guards in the entire league. So the Eagles decide they should put him on the trade … Continue reading
Yes, this goes against my firm affirmation that DeSean Jackson wasn’t going anywhere, but new development suggests he may indeed be on his way out. The Eagles have confirmed that they are shopping Jackson around the league, but have not announced whether they will trade or release him. The teams I discussed last week are all still part of the rumors, as well as a couple more such as the Seahawks and Panthers. Regardless, it … Continue reading
It’s not that it was much of a surprise, but Michael Vick is no longer an Eagle. His tenure in Philadelphia ended after five years with the team after he signed a 1-year deal with the Jets. The Jets decided to release former franchise QB Mark Sanchez following the signing, meaning that Vick will get to compete for the starting job with 2nd year player Geno Smith. There’s no denying that he had a few … Continue reading
Some reporters say he’s staying, some say he’s leaving. Some say he should be traded, some say he should stay. Some say Jackson doesn’t get along with Head Coach Chip Kelly, some say there’s no problem. All I know is this: he should not and will not be traded this offseason. So many different people have been saying so many different things, so it’s hard to determine what the actual report is. First, there are … Continue reading
The Broncos may be signing all the top names in free agency, but the Eagles are slowly adding a solid group of people to join their already solid team. After being relatively busy in the past two days, they were once again one of the first teams to make a move today, first trading for Saints RB Darren Sproles and then signing former Dolphins CB Nolan Carroll. Both of these guys will be really solid … Continue reading
After a very good first day of free agency, the Eagles got right back to work. They made what was possibly the very first NFL transaction of the day by signing former Seahawks S Chris Maragos and then later signed former Texans LB Bryan Braman. Both of these guys will be nice depth players and will contribute greatly on special teams. Very early this morning, the Eagles agreed to sign Maragos to a 3 year, … Continue reading
It wasn’t a groundbreaking or jaw-dropping first day of free agency, but sometimes that’s a good thing. The Eagles went into the day with a plan, and they came out of it with some solid moves. The most noteworthy was the signing of former Saints S Malcolm Jenkins, which fills a massive hole at the safety position. They also decided to re-sign P Donnie Jones and release S Patrick Chung, moves that actually came before … Continue reading
It’s been the talk for the past couple months that the Eagles need a starting-caliber safety, and this free agency could be the perfect time to fill that need. Whether they’re going to go after a top guy at the position such as Jairus Byrd or T.J. Ward remains to be 100% confirmed, but they have said that they don’t want to spend a ton at the position, which theoretically rules out those two guys. … Continue reading
Eagles GM Howie Roseman has been quite busy this offseason, and free agency hasn’t even begun. With just a week now to go until free agents officially hit the market, he’s been able to lock up a lot of their important players. This is key because it prevents these players from even having an opportunity to get offers from other teams. DE Cedric Thornton was a big re-signing because of how well he played, and … Continue reading
The Eagles have made it a point recently to identify who on their roster is sticking around and who is no longer in their plans for the future. While they’ve mainly been focusing on the first of those, the moves they make hint at who they’re no longer interested in keeping around, whether it be for salary issues or because they don’t fit into the system. Now that they’ve re-signed Jeremy Maclin, Riley Cooper, Jason … Continue reading
