I honestly did not have high hopes for the Eagles this season. I thought it was going to be an obvious rebuilding year that would result in a lot of losses and a lot of frustration. But based on the performance in their game today, I just may be wrong… While it certainly wasn’t the prettiest game, they still got it done and won against a division rival, an obvious feat. They somehow managed to … Continue reading
To be honest, I didn’t have very high expectations for the Eagles going into this game. Not only is it just a preseason game that doesn’t count, but I don’t expect the team to be very good this year anyway. The battle between Nick Foles and Michael Vick was probably the biggest story going into the night, and they both looked pretty good. Without two of their best players in LeSean McCoy and Jason Peters, … Continue reading
Today’s practice featured numerous injuries that will only add to the long list that they’ve already had to deal with. The day after hearing that Arrelious Benn tore his ACL and will miss the season, the Eagles began practice without five of their players, all lineman. Antonio Dixon was the only defensive tackle among the group, with the rest all coming from the offensive line. With Dennis Kelly, Nate Menkin, Jason Peters, and Ed Wang … Continue reading
Just when you thought the Eagles’ WR woes were in the books, they got a little bit worse. The same day that Riley Cooper returned to practice after the debacle he underwent with his racial slur at a concert, the Eagles lost another two WRs from their roster. Arrelious Benn, who was shaping up to be the 5th receiver in the depth chart, tore his ACL today in practice, meaning he will be done for … Continue reading
Chip Kelly has already said that he’s going to run the ball more than the Eagles did last year, and with Andy Reid’s gameplan, that shouldn’t be too hard. With this change in philosophy comes a need for the team to change, and I think they’re ready for that. The fact that Maclin is already out for season shows that they’ll be even more forced to run the ball. And they don’t have many solid … Continue reading
I was never expecting the Eagles to have a very good season, or even an okay season. Actually, I’d be surprised if they won much more than four games this year. But their hopes just got a lot worse yesterday after WR Jeremy Maclin tore his right ACL in training camp. Without him, their receiving corps becomes even thinner than it was before. Since he was going to be one of the starters, it means … Continue reading
At this point in the offseason, I’m having trouble identifying a guy as the guaranteed starting quarterback for the Eagles come the regular season. While this is common among many teams, there’s a problem with the reason why there’s a QB controversy. While some teams have to deal with two or three really good players fighting for that one starting position, I don’t see one specific guy that would be a good option to start … Continue reading
Monday marked the end of Andy Reid’s infamous 14-year tenure as the head coach of the Philadelphia Eagles. I say infamous because more people probably complained about him more than cheered him. But considering he lasted 14 years with a team in general is remarkable considering most coaches last about three and then move on to somewhere else. The Eagles had some ups and downs as he was coach, but many people overlook the good … Continue reading
The Eagles won a game. “Wow, great for them” says most people, but this is an especially important feat considering it was the first time they had won in two months. They were riding an eight game losing streak, but now they have bounced back. Well, at least a little bit. A win against the Buccaneers isn’t the greatest win in the world, but a win is a win. It was the Eagles’ fourth, and … Continue reading
The last time the Eagles went 2-0 to start the season, they made it to the Super Bowl (2004). While this may seem like a dumb statistic, it is definitely one to consider. Are the Eagles really a Super Bowl-caliber team? I mean, they barely beat the Browns a week ago. But here they are, beating another Super Bowl contender in the Baltimore Ravens in their home opener. That’s something to get excited about. After … Continue reading
