With the NBA Draft in the books, the Sixers look to move onto the next stage of the offseason: summer league basketball. There will be two sessions of summer league play, with the first occurring in Orlando. The Orlando Summer League will last from July 5-11, and the Sixers will be guaranteed four games with a chance at a fifth if they make the championship. The first three games will be televised, and their opponents … Continue reading
If Joel Embiid turns out to be a stud, then GM Sam Hinkie nailed this draft. I was worried that they would get too cute and start wheeling and dealing more than necessary, but they made just the right amount of moves on draft night. Many experts and insiders had the Sixers taking Dante Exum with the 3rd pick in the draft, but when it came down to it, it just didn’t make sense. They … Continue reading
The 2014 NBA Draft is in a few hours, and the Sixers have the most draft picks out of any team. They have the 3rd pick in the draft, and have been rumored to trade up to the 1st pick. There have been so many rumors though that it’s hard to tell what’s going to happen and who’s going to take who. Instead of focusing on that for now, I’m going to look back at … Continue reading
People have been talking about this draft class for over a year now. It is expected to have some of the best talent in a draft in the last decade, possibly rivaling the 2003 NBA Draft that had LeBron James, Carmelo Anthony, Chris Bosh, Dwyane Wade, and David West all in the first round. Except this year’s could even be better. It features guys like Andrew Wiggins, Jabari Parker, Dante Exum, Joel Embiid, and Marcus … Continue reading
The Sixers have the most draft picks in this year’s NBA Draft with 7. Two 1st rounders and 5 2nd rounders. To put that into perspective, there were some NFL teams that had less picks than them, and there are seven rounds in the NFL. The Sixers are stacked with opportunities to rebuild their team with basically whoever they want, and they might even get a third top 10 pick. All those 2nd rounders could … Continue reading
I’ve now looked at every single player in the league and analyzed whether or not they’re worth keeping around. After I have made these decisions, it obviously leaves them with less than a full roster, but I’ll give an overview of who they have and who they’d need to draft or pick up in free agency. They would only have 8 players on their roster right now, so things will change. Here’s where they’d be … Continue reading
I have finally gone through the full roster except for one player: C Nerlens Noel. Noel is the second of the players that are on the roster that didn’t play last year, both of whom were out because of knee injuries. Noel is fully healed though and will be ready to go during Summer League, which will be his first games in a Sixers uniform. I’m very excited to see what the near 7-footer can … Continue reading
I have now gone through all the members of the Sixers roster that played last year, so now I’m left with the guys who never played in a game last year. The first of these is SG Jason Richardson, the oldest player on the roster and the only guy that’s over 30 years old. At 33 years old, he’s been in the league for 12 years and is clearly on the decline in his career. … Continue reading
SG Adonis Thomas did not play much for the Sixers, but I’m going to talk about him anyway due to the fact that he was on the roster at the end of the season. In his rookie year last year, he was briefly on the roster of four different teams in the league (including the Sixers). He even got two 10-day contracts with the Magic towards the end of the season, and was coincidentally on the … Continue reading
As of now, I’ve given roster spots to just 6 players, and with a maximum of 15, there still leaves a lot to be filled. The next player I’m looking at is PG Casper Ware. Ware was in his first season in the NBA last year after spending the beginning of his career in Italy. But he didn’t just “spend time” there, he actually won the MVP of his league, averaging over 20 PPG. After … Continue reading
