Links of the week: assessing the state of the Eagles roster

The craziness of free agency has passed, and now the smoke has settled. The Eagles are left with a much different roster already than last year, and I expect more moves to be made during the draft. To be honest, I’m not really sure if the roster has gotten better since the beginning of the offseason, but nonetheless, it’s important to assess where the Eagles are in terms of their roster. Here are some links … Continue reading →

Eagles additions and subtractions: tracking all the players the team has brought in and let go

There’s absolutely no doubt that this offseason has been one of the craziest in Eagles history. Chip Kelly was given the reins at the beginning of the offseason to essentially do whatever he wants, and he’s doing exactly that. He’s getting rid of players that were the key players of the Andy Reid Era and finding a new group of guys that are “perfect fits” for his system, no matter what position. No player on … Continue reading →

Is Chip Kelly scaring free agents away? Looking back at yesterday’s moves and future ones

It didn’t fully occur to me until yesterday, but is it possible that Chip Kelly is scaring people away with the way he’s trying to build his team? I mean, he’s let go of DeSean Jackson, LeSean McCoy and Jeremy Maclin in the past two seasons, all of whom are Pro Bowl caliber talents. He’s replaced them with cheaper, younger guys (in some cases), but some people questions his “scheme over players” ideology. Here’s what … Continue reading →

Fallout of Eagles roster moves yesterday: what does this mean?

The Eagles definitely had the busiest day in yesterday among the entire NFL, signing people, missing out on signing people, and apparently being linked to trades with other people. It is absolutely crazy, and free agency hasn’t even started yet. Yesterday was part of the period of time in which teams can talk with free agents and work out deals, but nothing becomes official until Tuesday when free agency actually starts. There’s a lot to … Continue reading →

Links of the week: Eagles in process of big roster changes

The Eagles dropped a bomb on the entire world this past week when they decided to trade their star running back LeSean McCoy to the Bills for LB Kiko Alonso. While that trade technically can’t go through until next Tuesday, it’s likely going to remain intact and change the Eagles’ offense completely. Chip Kelly wants to take this team to the next level, but he’s not worried about doing it in an unorthodox way. Here … Continue reading →

Eagles agree to trade LeSean McCoy for Kiko Alonso, cut Cole and Williams

Chip Kelly was wearing a Sam Hinkie costume yesterday as he made a series of big moves to the roster, the biggest of which was trading the team’s star running back LeSean McCoy to the Bills for LB Kiko Alonso. It’s been a little while since the deal actually happened and I still haven’t fully comprehended what they’ve done. I can’t say I’m 100% surprised that they dumped him, but the inner Eagles fan in me … Continue reading →

Back in history: 1947 NFL Championship game, Eagles vs. Cardinals

If there’s one thing Eagles fans are bitter about over their lifetime of fanhood, it’s probably the lack of championships. Everyone knows they’ve never won a Super Bowl, only even making to it once. They do however have three NFL Championship wins, the equivalent of the Super Bowl before it was even a thing. With the theme of ice today, I have decided to look a famous NFL Championship game between the Philadelphia Eagles and … Continue reading →

Links of the week: cap casualties continue, free agent interest expands

Preparation for free agency is heating up around the league as teams have already begun to cut some high-priced veterans to clear some more cap space. The Eagles are among those teams, releasing their second player in as many weeks. They are definitely gearing up to make a couple important signings, and they’ll have to make some big decisions about the future of their franchise, especially defensively. Here are some links from the past week … Continue reading →

What positions the Eagles should target in the NFL Draft

The NFL Combine is now officially in the books, marking the end of the first step towards the NFL Draft, a very important period of time for all NFL franchises. For the Eagles, some have rumored that it might just be a very important 30 minutes (if they trade their whole draft to select Marcus Mariota), although that still just seems way too unlikely. Assuming they don’t pull off a ridiculous trade, which would be … Continue reading →

Links of the week: Eagles prepare for Combine, begin to make roster moves

This is week two of the “lull” period of the NFL offseason, but teams still continue to make some moves and move forward in their evaluations of players for the NFL Draft. This week, the Eagles released their first player, had a player wrongly arrested for indecent exposure and hypothetically traded all their 2015 draft picks to get Marcus Mariota. Sounds like an interesting week to me. Props to the blog Bleeding Green Nation this … Continue reading →
